Meals
All of your food requirements are taken care of at the residence. All meals and snacks are provided 7 days a week and included in the tariff.
Main kitchen
The main kitchen provides evening meals 7 days a week during the academic year. Night meals are served from 5:45 to 6:15PM. Two choices of meals are provided to try to ensure your satisfaction along with sweets every night.
Student Kitchen
Our Student kitchen is a bit like Mums kitchen because it is open from 6am in the morning and closes at 9:30pm. This allows you to eat as much or as little as you like, whenever you like from this kitchen during these hours. Breakfast and lunch are self serve, with breads (White, multigrain, wholemeal), meats, salads, fruits, spreads, cereals, milk, tea, coffee and Milo all provided along with full cooking facilities in the student kitchen.
Late Meals
You are able to order late meals from the kitchen by placing your name on the late meal board on the notice board outside the kitchen. The meal is prepared and left in the late meal fridge for you that is accessible 24 hours a day.
Personal Food
We have fridges for storage of personal foods that allows you to store your own personal food. One is located in the student kitchen and one in the late meal area allowing 24 hour access.
Special Diets
We are unable to cater to special diets. We do however offer a large variety of food available all day in the student fridge and our resident cook makes two choices of meals every night to satisfy student tastes.

Furnishings
All rooms are supplied with bed, bookcase, bedside table, small desk and chair. The majority of rooms have built in wardrobes and draws. |
Phones
Outgoing
The residence has a coin operated phone for outgoing calls.
Incoming
Three incoming lines with seven extensions spread through the building for incoming calls. The residences telephone number is (07) 3870 1636 and fax is (07) 3870 4945.
Internet Access
Each resident is able to access the Internet via the residences network in their rooms. This service is covered in the Amenities Fee.
Telephone Access
Each room has the ability to have a private telephone installed at your expense. To utilise this service a contract must be made with a telephone company to connect you. The largest provider is Telstra and others include Optus, AAPT, Etc. Normal connection fees apply. With deregulation of this industry it is best to ring a Telco and advise them of your room number and ask for a connection and they will advise you of the costs. We have found that the majority of students now have mobiles and this is becoming less of a requirement for students.
Linen
Residents must supply their own Linen for their room. A bed mattress protector is provided in your room and must be in use throughout your stay.
Cleaning
Residents are required to keep their rooms clean and tidy and to clean up after themselves when they use the kitchen and other common areas. Individuals can use vacuums that are available in the common area. Laundry
Free washing machines are available for the use of the residents. Dryers are available for an additional cost. |

Recreation Facilities
There are three TV rooms available for use by students. Pool table and table tennis tables are located in the recreation room. Outside facilities provided include, BBQ and 13-metre swimming pool. There is an air-conditioned music room available for any resident during the hours posted on the door. An amenities fee applies to all residents for the provision of these facilities. Residents can activities such as volleyball, soccer, cricket or touch football. The residence is close to cricket grounds, tennis courts, rugby, basketball, walking and jogging paths. Each student has access to the universities sporting and other facilities. |
Study Room
Our Study Room is available for residents to use 24 hours a day.
Supervision
The manager lives on site and resident students supervise on the weekends. |

Car parking
We have limited on site car parking however side street parking is always available. A fee is charged for this service, please contact the Manager for details.
Gardens
Our Gardens are taken care of by a biodynamic gardener who is growing many and varied sorts of plant life that can be grown in a subtropical area. We have a herb garden that supplies a lot of the herbs that are used in the kitchen. At other times, we have occasional fruit and vegetables that we grow on the property. This helps the residence have fresh and interesting food and to demonstrate to local and international students from cooler climates how different life in the tropics can be.
How secure is the residence?
The property has locked doors on every room and secured doors on the entry. In addition to that we have security cameras that provide surveillance of the internal and external of the residence on an ongoing 24 hour basis.

Residency Agreement
All residents are required to sign the "Tenancy Agreement" committing them to the period stated in their contract. This agreement also sets out the conditions of residency .
PLEASE NOTE: As per The Salvation Army’s philosophy, Smoking and Drinking are Forbidden on the property. Violation of these rules can result in immediate expulsion.
